Winter

This is my second winter in Canada.

I've been living in Canada for a year and a half. Unlike El Salvador where the rainy season is considered to be winter and the sunny season, summer there is much more to the seasons here. Seasons here in Canada are remarkable, everything seems to accommodate to seasonal changes, from landscapes to people's mood.

Fall was a wonderful season, however, the winter did surprise me. The sub 0 temperatures and wind chill created a sensation of cold that I can hardly describe. At first I was amazed to see how everyone else could follow a routine and live their lives by going to work, etc but then I realized it's part of Canada and Canadians got used to it already from many years ago.

I remember my first winter in Canada, even though it wasn't as cold as winter 2013, I didn't want to buy warm clothing because I wasn't used to having warm clothing. However, I decided to follow the advice of the people whom I live with, I bought winter clothes such as coat, jacket, gloves, and a hat, etc. My new clothes made my life in the frigged cold winter months a lot easier.

This winter I've been drinking a lot of hot chocolate and I really enjoyed being out and about experiencing the cold. I have come to notice that although this cold climate is home for a lot of people, many Canadians don't like the cold and complain about the winter. For me, the seasons bring me joy and I am happy to be living here in Canada, even in the winter.
